Welcome to Assilah Arts Festival
The Assilah Arts Festival was launched thirty two years ago to foster the rehabilitation and regeneration of the city of Assilah. Today, it is one of the most important art festivals in Morocco.
Over the last three decades, the event has strengthened cultural dialogue, exchange and solidarity as well as helped celebrate the values of peace and tolerance.
The Assilah Arts Festival brings together major global figures from the worlds of politics, diplomacy, culture and the arts including journalists, writers, painters, musicians and dancers to meet, share ideas and collaborate.
Every year, a guest country is invited to showcase its culture through an important program of exhibitions, performances and conferences.
This year, the guest country of honour at the Festival is the United Arab Emirates.
The UAE will be represented in Assilah through:
Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH)
The ADACH participation in Assilah will serve to:
- Nurture creativity in the fields of culture and heritage
- Strengthen cultural dialogue with Arab countries
- Provide new opportunities for development and exposure to Emirati artists and practitioners
- Shed light on the work of Emirati artists across different art and culture practices
- Promote Abu Dhabi’s culture and heritage regionally and internationally
- Enrich Abu Dhabi’s cultural agenda and portfolio
The program of ADACH will include:
- Showcases of art works by Emirati artists
- Panel discussions on topics including: cultural diplomacy, ethnomusicology, conservation, green architecture and more
- Film screenings
- Concerts
- Exhibitions
- Conferences
- Programmes relating to heritage, literature, publishing, crafts and more
UAE Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development
The program of the UAE Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development will include:
- Emirati folk arts
- Emirati folk music performances
- Calligraphy Exhibition
- Exhibition of the work of prominent Emirati Visual Artists
- Conference about the literary arts in the UAE and an evening of poetry reading and rendition
MASDAR
Masdar’s program will include:
- Exhibition where a model of the city, which will be the world's first zero-carbon city in Abu Dhabi, will be shown
- Conference on renewable energy
